About This Tool

The Smart Annotation Exporter is a powerful workspace that unlocks full value from your PDF annotations.

While conducting literature reviews or reading extensive ebooks, we make heavy use of highlights and sticky notes. This tool deserializes the low-level PDF /Annots dictionary and extracts all highlights, notes, underlines, and hand-drawn ink markers.

It automatically aligns the comments with their respective outline headers, generating a structured Markdown or JSON notebook with page reference anchors. Watch your highlights float beautifully into the frosted-glass notebook panel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it extract tablet hand-drawn ink strokes?

Yes. As long as the hand-drawn marks are stored as standard PDF Ink annotations, the tool can perfectly isolate and structure their page positions.

Why are some highlighted extracts empty?

If the PDF is a non-searchable image scan lacking underlying text, highlights only store coordinates. Run OCR on the PDF first, then extract annotations.

Do the Markdown links jump back to the PDF?

The exported file lists precise page numbers and original outline headings to make cross-referencing seamless.
