The PDF Spine Bookbinder is a pre-press savior for designers, self-publishing authors, and commercial bidding teams.
When compiling thick book catalogs, bidding proposals, or annual directories, perfect binding (glue binding) requires a cover with precise spine coordinates. If the spine width is off by even 1mm, the bound cover will warp, shift, or crease. Calculating page counts against paper weight is complex and error-prone.
This tool utilizes a physically modeled GSM paper-to-thickness library. Simply input your PDF page count and select paper stock (e.g. 80 GSM offset, 100 GSM glossy). The engine calculates spine width down to micrometers and compiles a print-ready, extra-wide cover PDF complete with standard front/back flaps and precise fold mark creases.

How accurate is the GSM paper-thickness calculation?
Highly accurate. Our physics library matches industry averages (e.g. 70 GSM = 0.09mm, 80 GSM = 0.10mm, 150 GSM glossy = 0.125mm). We also include a "Double-sided printing" toggle to halve calculations automatically.
Are the exported covers ready for direct printing?
Yes. The files are vector-perfect PDFs carrying standard registration marks, color bars, and spine guides, fully compliant with offset and digital commercial presses.
Can I upload a background image spanning the spine?
Yes. You can upload custom layouts, and our compositor will wrap and align the graphics across the spine folds automatically.
